Another Tutorial

I'm reworking another Tutorial so that it teaches the foundations of basic micromacrame. This isn't your 1960s plant hanger!

Micromacrame Lampwork Pendant
Take macrame to a new level using lampwork and Czech Glass beads. Make a micromacrame pendant using a lampworked acorn, bicone or tube bead as a base and heavy fringing as embellishment.

Recently reworked tutorial will be available for emailing on Saturday, May 29(tomorrow morning). Taking preorders now. It teaches beginning/basic macrame. Students should be comfortable in basic bead stringing. This instruction packet is for BEGINNING beaders.

Instruction packet covers flat and twisted micromacrame as well as adding in the beads for the fringe.

You can use an acorn-shaped bead for this piece as shown, a round, a bicone shape or a tube. Flattened beads don't work well for this design.

There are no beads included with this tutorial - it is the pattern only.

DESIGNING WITH SEED BEADS $8.00
An Introduction to Seed Bead Glass Surfaces, an e-book
with just a tiny bit on Color Theory and Bead Size/Shape
thrown in for good measure.

Seed beaders constantly ask me about the differences in seed bead sizes, shapes, and finishes, so I've finally written it down into an easy-to-manage manual or e-book.
This is NOT a project-based piece. This is a reference piece, an introduction ONLY to some of the available seed bead sizes and finishes that are currently on the market, along with photos. This is in no way an exhaustive study, but I thought it might well be useful for anyone who is as bead-obsessed as I am.
This manual will be sent out to paid buyers via email (PDF). 8 pages, 25+ photographs.

Treasures of Toho Competition Semifinalist!

I just heard from Lisa, owner of 1 Stop Bead Shop - we entered the Treaures of Toho competition with this piece.

She donated the seed beads, I designed and worked the piece. The center fused cabochon was made by my friend Bernie.

Today, we found out that it was selected to be one of the 12 finalists in the contest! The piece will be shown at Bead and Button this year.

In addition, two of my lampwork glass flowers were selected as part of the Bead Dreams 2009 competition.

Come on by and say hello if you are planning on coming to the Bead and Button show. I'll be at Lisa's booth. 1 Stop Bead Shop Booth #1035 and will have my lampwork flowers there with me. If she allows it, I may also have kits for some of my other pieces. I'm super excited - but need to get to work now!

Low Key Store Announcement...

I'm not really sure how this all happened, but I have managed to fill my studio. It only took a year in this new place, but somehow stuff's been breeding like rabbits.
And... I haven't been shopping all that much - as a matter of fact my fine art supply purchases in the last year have been limited to exactly this:

* Acid Etch - which was for the lampworking
* A marker (that's right ONE)
* A couple of sheets of handmade paper
* Some brass screening (which I gave away to Joanna since it didn't work in lampworking)

So, where did all this STUFF come from? Honestly, I can't figure it out.

So... I have decided to put a bunch of my flat work on Etsy. And opened a new "shop" to do it. Check it out, but promise you won't laugh too hard - some of the stuff is pretty silly/bad/funny!

Coming soon - a supply store, too!
